“Anyone who hears and obeys these teachings of mine is like a wise person who built a house on solid rock. Rain poured down, rivers flooded, and winds beat against that house. But it was built on solid rock, and so it did not fall.” (Matthew 7: 24-25 CEV)
There is always something to challenge, intimidate, entice, or influence thought, heart or spirit; not all, good. The wise choose wisely. Clarity, consistency, integrity, quality, reliability, trust and values, lead better than flash, temptation, doubt, emotion, or singularly self-interest. Community consists of many different persons, each and all making their own contributions. “Good” communities are those where everyone benefits from the contributions of each and all the others. For example, when disaster comes, all come together, to rescue, heal and restore. But communities collapse when citizens do not care or contribute. It would be wise then to consider, what qualities we choose to guide and secure our living, and relating. What insures peace, wellbeing, hope, trust, cooperation, and security. It is not whimsy. Without clear and consistent direction, we can wind up anywhere, in any condition, needing to work extra hard to find ourselves and/or our way back. The path of good faith, guides through all things, for all persons, toward solid, secure, contented state, not just when we get there, but all along the way. |
